Are language and skills courses compulsory if English is not my first language?

Our Courses in Language and Skills for Study (CLASS) are designed to address potential difficulties that you may experience during your studies and also help you improve your academic performance. The courses are particularly valuable to students who speak English as a second language or additional language, but UK students are also welcome.

Our purpose is to provide the language and skills you need during your time at Surrey. We therefore encourage you to attend classes regularly.
