How do I register my work or research placement abroad?

All placements abroad, including Professional Training Year (PTY) placements, postgraduate taught (PGT) Professional Training Placements, Health Sciences placements, Vet EMS placements, MPhys placements and PGR placements must be registered with the International Engagement Office (IEO) in advance of travel.

In addition to the tri-partite Learning / Training Agreement, as part of the registration process you will need to upload a fully signed Risk Assessment for Travel Abroad. There are different risk assessment templates depending on the type of activity you are doing. If there are elements of the risk assessment for which the initial risk profile is high risk or if your placement is in a sensitive jurisdiction (including China / Hong Kong) your risk assessment will need to go through elevated review and approvals. International placements as part of professional training years must first be registered with and approved by the Placements team in order to be recognised as part of your degree. They must then be registered with the IEO for international travel approval.
