I am a postgraduate research (PGR) student. When should I complete the confirmation review?

If you are a postgraduate research (PGR) student, you will be required to undertake a formal assessment referred to as a confirmation review. This is in addition to your progress reviews.

The confirmation process is a formal assessment you are required to undertake in order to continue with your MD, PhD or EngD. It is used to evaluate your research approach and progress so far and will provide feedback and assess the prospects for successful completion. You will be required to submit a report and sit an oral examination. Confirmation will normally take place nine to 15 months after programme registration for full-time students and 18 to 30 months for part-time students.

For more information and FAQs on progress reviews, please view the “Confirmation” section within the Reviewing your progress page.
