I am struggling to sleep. What support is available to me?

If you are experiencing issues surrounding sleep, there are multiple avenues of support available to you. You can find information and advice, as well as tips to help improve your sleep, though websites such as Mind, NHS Every Mind Matters, and Sleep Council

Many people find mindfulness to be a beneficial tool in improving overall quality of sleep. You can access free resources including meditations, reading materials and lessons in mindful meditation via the Mindful Study space on SurreyLearn

The free to use Wisdom App also has lots of helpful tools to help with sleep hygiene. You can listen to sleep-pods, create a sleep plan, even link your smart watch or smart ring to keep track of your progress. Simply download the Wisdom App from the App Store or Google Play and enter the code MHA268152 to get started.

However, if you find that your problems with sleep are affecting your day-to-day life or causing you distress, it may be a good idea to call NHS 111 or book an appointment with your GP.

Our new service ThriveWell is a mental health and emotional wellbeing service which can help with a whole range of low level issues including sleep issues, anxiety, loneliness and exam stress. They offer a range of workshops, events and daily drop-in sessions (Monday to Friday during term-time) to help you with specific support to improve your wellbeing. You can also pre-book one-to-one sessions (in-person or online) with our ThriveWell wellbeing advisers. Please also contact them via email if you have any specific questions.

If you feel you require a higher level of support for your mental health, The Centre for Wellbeing can support you with a range of issues through counselling or support from a Mental Health Practitioner. You can contact us today via email and book a free, confidential appointment with a wellbeing adviser or counsellor.
