I have left the university but need proof of my council tax exemption status during my time as a student

If you have graduated from or left the university for other reasons, we can provide proof of council tax exemption. Your IT account should remain active for approximately 3 months after your course end date and during this time you can download a Confirmation of Registration letter from the University Letters page that will confirm your course dates and exemption status.

If you no longer have your university IT account, you should send an email to the Alumni team (alumni@surrey.ac.uk) to request a Confirmation of Registration Alumni/Confirmation of Registration Withdrawn Alumni letter. They will then be able to send the letter to you electronically.

Please note, you are liable for council tax after your course end date, not your award or graduation date. The Award letter available through Gradintelligence should not be used for council tax purposes as it does not contain the correct dates.
