I submitted my coursework on time, why is SurreyLearn showing it as submitted late?
The standard submission deadline at the University of Surrey is 4pm (16:00) on the given deadline day and a submission at or after 4:01pm (16:01) is defined as late.
Therefore any work that you submit up until 4:00.59pm (16:00.59) is considered to be on-time and acceptable. Any work that you submit after that time (so 4:01pm/16:01 onwards) is considered late and is liable to incur a mark reduction penalty.
If you have submitted your assignment before 4:01pm (16:01.00) on the day of the deadline, the 'Late' indicator in SurreyLearn can be ignored. The reason that this happens is that the submission folders in SurreyLearn are set up with a deadline of 4pm (16:00) which is the standard deadline. SurreyLearn then indicates that anything submitted at 4pm (16:00) onwards as 'Late'. So you can ignore this for any submissions made prior to 4:00.59pm (16:00.59).
It is important to note that SurreyLearn does not automatically deduct marks for late submission. Deductions are managed separately based on the time of submission and the University regulations.
