I want to request to permanently withdraw from my course
We are sorry to hear that you are thinking of permanently withdrawing. We would strongly advise you to first discuss permanently withdrawing from your studies with your personal tutor and the MySurrey Hive team. You can contact the MySurrey Hive team via Surrey Support. Please select 'My Course' as your enquiry topic. Information on permanently withdrawing is also included in the Code of Practice for temporary or permanent withdrawal of studies.
If you are sure, you must submit your request to permanently withdraw via Surrey Self-Service. Log into Surrey Self-Service and select “Registration” from the top menu. Then select “Apply for suspension or withdrawal” and follow the steps in this How to apply for withdrawal guide.
If your application to permanently withdraw is retrospective (ie. you want to request that it is backdated to an earlier date in the academic year) these applications are only considered in exceptional circumstances and you will be asked to provide evidence as part of your application.
It is your responsibility to notify the University of a permanent withdrawal at the point at which you intend to withdraw via Surrey Self-Service.
An outcome email will be sent to you by us, and provided that the application is approved, your student record will be updated. You will be contacted if you are eligible for a lower exit award (if you have achieved sufficient credits during your programme, prior to the date of withdrawal).
Where applicable we will notify Student Finance and the Home Office (for students on a visa) of the withdrawal from your studies.
More information is available on our Withdrawals page.
If you are unable to access Surrey Support, please contact us via our enquiry form.
