If I report an incident to a Sexual Violence Liason Officer, will I need to report it to the University or the Police too?
If you have made a disclosure to a Sexual Violence Liason Officer (SVLO), you do not need to report it to the University or the Police. By contacting the SVLO team, a disclosure has been made. However, this disclosure is only to the SVLO team.
If you do wish to make a formal report, you can do so by completing the University's Report+Support form.
If you do make a formal report, you can still access support from the SVLO team.
SVLOs will support you to explore what next steps feel best for you. If that does not include reporting to the Police or the University then our SVLOs can still support you. The SVLO team want you to be informed and will talk you through each reporting and support option.
The team will only share information without your permission if there is a serious and immediate risk to you or someone else, and will always aim to involve you in that process wherever it is safe to do so.
You can also access the university's Harassment and sexual misconduct pages.
If you are unable to access Surrey Support, please contact us via our enquiry form.
