What are the university semester dates?

You can find all of our semester and vacation dates throughout each academic year on our Key Dates page.

Please note, the School of Medicine's term dates may differ due to a shorter winter break so please check our Key Dates pages for specific details. Students following Surrey Online Learning courses may also have separate programme dates.

If you are a full-time postgraduate student starting in either September or February, you may have teaching and assessment activities taking place during the winter and summer vacations. You can find details on our website of our postgraduate non-term time periods and summer vacations.

Research students, on a full-time postgraduate research course, are expected to be in continuous attendance except for annual leave and university closure days.

During vacations and outside term-time, the university remains open except for a small number of closure dates which are detailed on our Key Dates pages.
