What can I expect to happen if I submit a report via Report + Support?
If you submit a report via Report + Support and you provide your contact details, you can expect a response within three University working days.
If you do not provide your contact details but you do opt into the anonymous chat feature, you will be contacted within three University working days.
If you do not provide your contact details or opt into the anonymous chat feature, it is unlikely that you will receive any direct contact.
Your report will be triaged by one of our Report + Support co-ordinators.
We may undertake further investigation, and this could involve the start of a formal process. If you have shared your contact details, you will be contacted by us to discuss what will happen next. We will not take any action until we have spoken with you. Neither will we tell the accused person about your report until we have discussed this with you.
Some reports are resolved quickly after initial enquiries.
Some reports will result in no further action due to lack of information. It is important that you share as much information as possible in your report and communications with us.
Please be assured that any information you have provided will only be shared with relevant individuals on a strictly ‘need-to-know' basis and reports will never appear on your student record. If your report is considered very serious, it may be forwarded to relevant parties. In extremely rare cases, a report may be referred to the Police.
At every stage, you will be kept informed of the process until a final outcome is achieved. Some reports can be resolved informally through dialogue between the reporting and responding persons or by action taken by us. Some reports may lead to referral to internal or external support agencies.
You can provide additional information for your report at any time. This can be via sending an email to the Report + Support team at reportandsupport@surrey.ac.uk or via the individual who makes contact with you.
You may request to withdraw your report at any time.
You can arrange a confidential conversation before submitting your report by emailing the Report + Support team at reportandsupport@surrey.ac.uk. We can then speak to you via email, Microsoft Teams or in person (whatever works best for you).
