What is Turnitin?
Each assignment that you submit into SurreyLearn will also be processed by an online tool called Turnitin. Turnitin compares your submitted work against a vast database of academic sources, websites, and other student submissions to find similarities and is used by the university to maintain academic integrity and promote originality.
Turnitin will not determine whether plagiarism or academic misconduct has occurred; this will be the module leader's judgment following their review of the similarity reports produced by Turnitin.
You also have the opportunity to use our separate Similarity Checker to review your draft work for similarities before you submit the final version of your work. You can access the Similarity Checker by using the link provided on the SurreyLearn homepage. In this way, The Similarity Checker can help you to properly cite sources and ensure that your writing is original. It is a valuable tool that can empower you to develop your research and writing skills while respecting intellectual property rights.
More information about Turnitin can be found on the Similarity Checker page accessed via the SurreyLearn homepage.
