What wellbeing services does the University of Surrey offer?

Our new service Thrivewell are a mental health and emotional wellbeing service which can help with a range of low level issues including anxiety, low mood and exam stress. You can contact Thrivewell via our email; thrivewell@surrey.ac.uk.

If you feel you require a higher level of support for your mental health, The Centre for Wellbeing can support you with a range of issues through counselling or support from a Mental Health Practitioner. You can contact us today via email.

The Centre for Wellbeing offers a range of pastoral services to ensure that our students feel well and supported throughout their time at the University. We are not a clinical service provider, but offer advice and support for mental, emotional and psychological issues, as well as signposting to clinical services.

Our services are free, and we work in a range of ways to support students. We are a source of advice and guidance on health and wellbeing issues. Support can range from a consultation with a counsellor, to referral to appropriate outside agencies. We do not provide clinical services, like those delivered by NHS services, but we work closely and confidentially with NHS partners in support of individuals with severe and enduring mental health issues.

We are a multidisciplinary team experienced in supporting and advising those with a range of mental health, emotional or psychological conditions. Our team is comprised of Mental Health Practitioners and Counsellors.

Our Counselling team is made up of professionally qualified counsellors with experience of supporting students with any and all aspects of their lives, whether at university or beyond. Like all our Centre for Wellbeing services, our counselling sessions are free and confidential. Find out more about our team, and our specialist interests on our Meet the Team page.

Our specialist Mental Health Practitioner team is made up of mental health practitioners, social workers, an occupational therapist and an eating disorder therapist. We provide support for students with complex or chronic mental health conditions including mood disorders, psychosis, personality disorder and eating disorders, as well as advice and guidance on managing student life with a mental health condition. We can also support co-ordination and liaison with academic departments and external health teams.
