Who are the Student Support Coordinators?

The Student Support Coordinators provide tailored, individual support to students from all backgrounds who are experiencing multiple challenges which could affect their progression.

These challenges could be related to their academic study, accommodation, finances, visa, wellbeing, or other areas.

Each Student Support Coordinator acts as a single point of contact for the student they are supporting, providing a wraparound service that is fully student centred and seeks to empower the student to take positive action to enable their progression.

The Student Support Coordinators work closely with teams and student support services from across the University, co-ordinating the support needed to address a student’s individual challenges wherever possible.

In addition, they also work alongside academic staff, such as Personal Tutors, Senior Personal Tutors, Module Leaders, and Programme Leaders, to consider how to best address the challenges the student is facing and to co-ordinate the support required.

A referral to the Student Support Coordinators can come from the MySurrey Hive, student services, Student Success Coaches, or academic staff such as Personal Tutors and Senior Personal Tutors.
