Will I be penalised if my attendance or engagement score on MySurrey Engagement is low?

The University attendance policy expects you to attend your timetabled classes. However, we understand that from time to time this may not be possible and isolated cases of attendance being missed will not normally result in any issues, provided your overall engagement profile is strong.

Penalties will not be applied based on your engagement (including attendance). We would recommend a discussion with your personal tutor or student success coach and/or relevant academic to find the right level of engagement for you.

There may, however, be consequences if you consistently engage below a level necessary to succeed, and this level will always be specific to you at that point in time. Your personal tutor or student success coach should agree any goals with you that you should be aiming to achieve.

If you believe your attendance is not being accurately captured by the MSA app, we advise letting your Personal Tutor or Student Success Coach know. They work with our central support teams and can liase with them on your behalf and provide further help or support if needed.
