Can I work whilst I am on clinical placement?
If you are a veterinary student it is unlikely that you will be able to work during final year as you will be on different placements around the country and will be learning full time on rotation.
For all other clinical placement students, if you are carrying out paid work, you must not work more than the European Working Time Directive limit of 48 hrs per week and not follow any action which may risk patient welfare or safety. Be mindful that you must work 37.5 hours in placement and any paid work will be in addition to this. Please ensure you prioritise working alongside your practice assessor, practice supervisor or practice educator as they will need to assess your progress. Many of our health sciences students work as bank health care assistants which allows for a flexible approach to paid work.
