How can I apply to live on campus or in a specific type of room due to my medical or disability needs?

If you have a disability or medical need to live on campus throughout your studies, or if you require specific accommodation or adaptions made to your accommodation, you should fill out a Preferential Accommodation Request form. To request this form please contact the MySurrey Hive via Surrey Support, if you are a current student. You should select "Disability and Neuroinclusion" as your enquiry topic. If you are a prospective student, you can email disability@surrey.ac.uk to request the form.

This form comprises:

  • A print-optimised version of the Preferential Accommodation Request
  • An electronic version of the Preferential Accommodation Request
  • A medical evidence form that can be printed and completed by your GP
  • A consent form.

Although you do not need to complete and return all parts of this file, your Preferential Accommodation Request must contain:

  • Information on what request is being made
  • Medical evidence (this may already be on file with Disability and Neuroinclusion)
  • Agreement to Terms and Conditions via signature or electronic confirmation
  • Agreement to Consent To Share.

A Disability Adviser may need to discuss specific elements of your request with you. Similarly, if you wish to discuss your request before making your accommodation application, please send your questions via Surrey Support if you are a current student, or email them to disability@surrey.ac.uk f you are a prospective student. If your request is for specific adaptions, ergonomic furniture or equipment, we would recommend contacting us before completing your application.
