How can I apply to live on campus or in a specific type of room due to my medical or disability needs?
If you have a disability or medical need to live on campus in your second year or beyond, or if you require specific accommodation or adaptions made to your accommodation, you should complete the Preferential Accommodation Request form. This form will ask you to provide:
- Personal details
- Reason for needing accommodation
- Whether you require a specific campus and/or a specific type of accommodation
- Medical evidence (although if you have previously shared this with Disability and Neuroinclusion, you do not need to resubmit it)
A Disability Adviser may need to discuss specific elements of your request with you. Similarly, if you wish to discuss your request before making your application, please contact MySurrey Hive via Surrey Support and select "Disability and Neuroinclusion" as your enquiry topic, or attend one of our drop-in sessions:
Stag Hill – Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays 2pm to 4pm at The Hive, Stag Hill
Manor Park –Tuesdays, Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm at The Hive, Manor Park
If you are a current student whose medical needs are not being met by your current university accommodation, the Disability and Neuroinclusion team may assess your needs and support specific accommodation. You should complete a Request a Room Swap form and select the relevant options within the medical section of the form. Please then also open a query with MySurrey Hive via Surrey Support and select “Disability and Neuroinclusion” as your enquiry topic. Further guidance on what information is required is available when you complete the Request a Room Swap form.
