I am a Foundation year student, will I receive an award or certificate at the end of the year?
The Foundation Year itself does not lead to an award. If you successfully complete the Foundation Year, you would normally progress onto an undergraduate degree programme.
If you successfully complete all 120 credits but decide not to continue onto your undergraduate degree at the University of Surrey, you will receive a Certificate in Foundation Year Studies. This will not be graded. We will send this to you by post. You will also receive an electronic Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) which will provide a full record of your studies.
If you leave before successfully achieving all 120 credits, you will not be eligible for the Certificate in Foundation Year Studies. However, you can still access your HEAR transcript showing any credits and modules you have completed.
If you continue onto and complete your undergraduate degree, the Foundation Year will not be listed on your degree certificate. However, it will appear on your HEAR transcript, which provides a complete record of your studies at Surrey.
