I am a new student and will be on health sciences placements. What uniform am I entitled to?
If you are a nursing and midwifery student, you are entitled to the following uniform at the start of the course: 2 pairs of trousers, 4 tunics, 1 fleece (this is not compulsory on placement). These are provided by the University free of charge. You will be invited to a uniform 'try on day' which usually takes place on the Sunday at the end of Welcome Week. This uniform will then be ordered for you by the University and you will be notified when this is ready to collect later in the semester.
If you are a paramedic student, you are entitled to the following uniform at the start of the course, 1 fleece, name badge, 4 polo tops, 1 soft shell jacket, 2 pairs of trousers and 1 belt. These are provided by the University free of charge but need to be ordered directly with Alexandra. The Clinical Placements team will send you a form which you can use to order this. Then, depending on the Ambulance Service you are assigned to, further uniform will be required. For South East Coast ambulance service, the academics organise this with you and the university will then place the order on your behalf. For London Ambulance Service, they will organise this with you directly.
