I have been attacked or have seen someone else being attacked, what should I do?

Physical assault is never ok. Physical assault is when an individual or a group attacks a person physically, with or without the use of a weapon, or threatens to hurt that person. It can include scratching, pushing, kicking, punching, throwing things, using weapons or physically restraining another person.

If you or someone you know has been attacked you should seek help. If you or anyone else is in immediate danger or seriously injured, you can call 999. If you are on campus, you should tell Campus Safety (01483 683333) that the emergency services are on their way and give details of your location.

If you have been the victim of a crime or need help or advice then call Campus Safety on +44 (0)1483 682002 or visit Stag Hill Reception.

You can also use our Report + Support online platform to report any physical attack or assault that you have experienced. You can report anonymously or with your contact details and we will follow this up. The University takes every report seriously and carefully considers what action to take.

Further support is also available from the services below:-

•    Centre for Wellbeing: the University’s team of professional counsellors, and mental health workers offers confidential support.

•    Chaplaincy: our chaplains are from many different faiths and beliefs.  We also have non-faith or spiritual chaplains.

•    Extenuating circumstances: if you feel your studies have been affected by what has happened you can consider applying for extenuating circumstances (ECs).
