I have changed my course, when will my student record be updated to reflect this?

The time for your student records to update will depend on the type of the transfer and the time of your request. Generally, transfers that involve staying on the same course, but adding (or removing) a placement year or year abroad should happen relatively quickly. However, if you are fully changing to a different programme, the change may not be reflected in your student record until the beginning of the next academic year, so please be reassured that as long as your request has been approved by us, your record will be updated.

If we have approved your request to transfer to a different course, your course will be updated on your student record as soon as possible. However if you are a current undergraduate or postgraduate taught student with resits during the Late Summer Assessment (LSA) period, and have requested to change your course, your student records will be updated once you have completed your LSA assessments and your results are available.

If you are changing your course at the University of Surrey for the next academic year, you should also log into your Student Finance England (SFE) account and update your course details. This is usually the quickest way to make sure your student finance application is updated.

If your course change takes place after the academic year has started, or you are unable to update your details yourself, the University will normally notify Student Finance England as part of our regular reporting processes. There's no need to contact us separately, and updates may take a little time to appear on your student finance record.
