I want to apply for an Oyster card discount
If you are a student living in a London borough during term-time, you can apply for an 18+ Student Oyster photocard online to receive discounts on Travelcards and London bus and tram season tickets.
You are eligible to apply for an 18+ Student Oyster photocard - Transport for London if you meet the TfL eligibility criteria below:-
- aged 18 or over; and
- attending a participating educational establishment that is registered on the Scheme (the University of Surrey is registered); and
- resident in a London borough during term time; and
- enrolled on a full-time course that includes at least 15 tuition-led or structured learning hours per week (attendance at scheduled classes must occur Monday to Friday, excluding evening classes).
- the course must last a minimum of 14 weeks. Courses lasting less than 14 weeks but repeated to total 14 or more weeks are not eligible
Students living in London whilst undertaking a placement can also apply.
You will need your London borough address, university student ID (URN number) and your university email address to register your account and apply online via the TfL website. You will also be asked to upload a digital photograph.
Once you have registered your account with TfL and applied for the 18+ Student Oyster photocard, TfL will then contact us to verify your student status and once this has been confirmed, your card will be sent by post to your registered address. The process usually takes 2 weeks. Sometimes there can be delays and if you have not received your photocard after 3 weeks, you can contact TfL on 0343 222 1234 to check the status of your application.
