I want to know about an attendance policy

University regulations require students to participate fully in the work of their programme. It is therefore expected that you will attend all lectures, tutorials and seminars that are on your timetable as well as ensuring you participate in assessment. Not engaging sufficiently in your programme places your educational experience at risk and could lead to your registration being terminated for lack of academic progress.

The Student Staff Partnership manifesto (PDF) outlines the general expectation that students engage enthusiastically in the educational experience provided by the University. The Code of Practice for Student Engagement provides details of what activities are considered engagement.

The University has developed MySurrey Engagement, a platform which supports students to review their own engagement. MySurrey Attendance allows students to log their attendance or absence at timetable teaching sessions.

Students who are subject to Home Office rules should be aware that their engagement with their studies is monitored to ensure they are complying with the terms of their visa.
