If I am planning on staying out late, how can I keep myself safe?
To keep safe at night, we advise students to go out in groups. We also recommend an App called Hollie Guard or Life360. Hollie Guard allows you to set up designated person to be alerted. If you’re worried you can set your route and if you haven’t reached there by a certain time, then Hollie Guard will automatically ring your notified person and let them know where you are.
Safety points to remember are:
- Plan where you are going and how you are going to get back and, if you can, tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.
- Get a free personal safety alarm from Campus Security and carry it with you and make sure it is easily accessible.
- Always keep hold of your drinks and use an anti-drink spiking device.
- At night, keep to well-lit streets and walk with others.
- Remember to use one of the safety apps.
