If I take a temporary withdrawal, how will this affect my entitlement to student loan finance?

If you rely on student loans for funding your tuition or maintenance costs, there are some important factors to consider. There are funding implications of taking a period of withdrawal, particularly if the withdrawal begins after academic term has started. Student Finance England usually provide funding for the normal length of a university course plus one extra year, however this is dependent on your funding history to date, and if you have repeated before or had previous study. It would be advisable to contact Student Finance to check your funding entitlement before you make any choice, so you can make an informed decision.

If you receive NHS Funding in addition, we would also advise contacting them regarding any consequences to funding entitlement for the Learning Support Fund.

If you need any assistance speaking with your funding provider please book an appointment with the Student Money Advice Team who will be able to advise you, or contact them via the MySurrey Hive team via Surrey Support and select "Money and Finance" as your enquiry topic.
