Is there a cost to use the University's TravelCert insurance policy for my study or work abroad trip?
No, there is no cost to students. The cost of travel insurance booked through TravelCert is covered by the University. You must register with TravelCert in advance and provide details of the trip you are undertaking. The maximum length of time that any trip can be covered by TravelCert is one year.
If a trip is not compliant with policy i.e. to a restricted territory or needs referral, a clarification email will be issued to you advising you to contact the Insurance Office. In these cases you may be asked to arrange your own insurance cover and this would incur additional cost. You can check for up-to-date information on your destination country using the on the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or the AIG Travel Assistance App or AIG Travel Assistance website. You will be required to input your university email address and the University’s Policy Number 0010016168.
