What happens if I fail?

If you fail a unit of assessment within a module, and the module is failed overall, you will be allowed one re-assessment of the failed unit which will take place at the appropriate re-assessment period. If you fail the module overall at the second attempt and you are not entitled to compensation, you may be eligible for a third attempt if your programme permits, otherwise your programme of study will be terminated.

If you fail more than 60 credits you will be course suspended to retake the failed assessments during the next academic year (normally with attendance at lectures, tutorials, etc).

Upon successful completion of the reassessed unit, the mark is capped at the following University pass marks:

  • Foundation year modules – 50%
  • Undergraduate (first, second and final year modules) – 40%
  • BVMSci Veterinary Medicine and Science (first, second, third, fourth and final year modules) – 50%
  • Postgraduate taught modules – 50%.

If you fail your reassessment, you will be awarded the higher mark of the attempts.
