What is an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) and how do I register?
Your Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) is a unique, open digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher with the same or a similar name to you. Anyone who participates in research, scholarship, or innovation can register an ORCID iD for themselves free of charge, and you can use the same iD throughout your whole career, even if your name changes or you move to a different organization, discipline, or country.
We have developed a quick and easy guide on how to best manage your research profiles, and this involves linking your Scopus Author profile to your ORCID (you might want to follow the same initial step to link any other profile you might have, for example your ResearcherID). If you have already completed this initial step at your previous institution, log into the repository and “register or connect” your ORCID. For further information, you can contact our Open Research team.
