Why can I not enter buildings/rooms to which I normally have access?

When you present your card to the door entry system does the indicator stay orange, turn red or turn green?

  • If it turns green, the card is working
  • If it stays orange, the card is not being recognised and needs replacing
  • If it turns red, the card is recognised but you do not have access to that door.

You should have the necessary access to the relevant building and rooms for your programme. There may be a few buildings, rooms or labs that your module leader, lecturer or the laboratory team will have to make a request on your behalf to the faculty/department gatekeeper(s).

For access to places of worship on campus or other spaces, requests can be sent to card access control directly.

Please ensure you provide the following details as part of any request: Your name, URN, building/room name/number you require access to and your card number (6 numbers on bottom of card, under barcode) and reason for requiring access.
