Will my extenuating circumstances application delay my marks and feedback?
Exams and tests
Approved extenuating circumstances (EC) for exams or tests will always defer the exam or test to the next available assessment period. We cannot offer an extension for exams or tests. Therefore any deferred exams or tests will take place in the next available assessment period and delay your marks and feedback to this later time. Please note that if you are a final year student and have ECs that entail resits in the Late Summer Assessment period (LSA), your final award will be delayed and you will not be able to attend your graduation ceremony in July with your cohort. In this case you would normally be invited to the next undergraduate graduation ceremony which is usually in July the following year.
Coursework assignments
Approved extenuating circumstances (EC) extensions of up to 10 working days for coursework assignments should not normally cause any delay to your ratified marks or feedback or affect your graduation. You should still receive your marks on the official mark release date for the assessment period. If you have a managed study plan or multiple EC applications, you may experience a short delay with your marks.
However, if the outcome of your EC application is that your coursework has been deferred to the next available assessment period, your marks and feedback for the assignment will be deferred to this later assessment period along with your marks and feedback. Please note that if you are a final year student whose coursework has been deferred to the Late Summer Assessment period (LSA), your final award will be delayed and you will not be able to attend your graduation ceremony in July with your cohort.
