Will submitting extenuating circumstances, taking re-sits or using the Late Summer Assessment period impact my eligibility for the Graduate Route visa?
If you are an international student on a Student visa, you must be awarded your degree before your current student visa permission expires in order to be eligible for the Graduate Route. If the outcome of an extenuating circumstances (EC) application is that one or more of your assessments will be deferred (test and exams are always deferred) to the next available assessment opportunity, then this will affect your visa.
Therefore if the outcome of your EC application is that your exam or assignment has been deferred to the next available assessment opportunity, or if you are taking re-sits or using the Late Summer Assessment period you may not receive your final marks before your current visa expires.
If you do not receive your final marks before your current visa expires, then you will not be eligible for the Graduate Route.
Approved extenuating circumstances (EC) extensions of up to 10 working days for coursework assignments should not normally cause any delay to your ratified marks or feedback. You should still receive your marks on the official mark release date for the assessment period. If you have a managed study plan or multiple EC applications, you may experience a short delay with your marks.
