Can I add a placement year?

It is possible to switch from the non-placement to with-placement version of your programme at any time. We encourage this, as it often helps motivate you to seek and apply for placements when the time comes. To make this request please contact the MySurrey Hive team via Surrey Support, and select "Placements" as your enquiry topic.

If you are a student visa holder, then you will need submit a supporting statement alongside your request detailing how adding the placement will benefit your future career and personal aspirations. This can be sent as Word document or email and should be several paragraphs in length. This supporting statement will be kept on your student record as evidence that the transfer was assessed in line with the Student Route visa regulations.

If your request is approved, you must submit a new visa application prior to the start of your placement. Our International Student Advice Team will be able to provide you with further guidance on the process of submitting your new visa application and issuing you with a new CAS. We would encourage you to make an appointment with an International Student Adviser to discuss this process further as they will be able to give you more guidance and support on the process.
