Can I cancel my extenuating circumstances application?
Sometimes circumstances change and you find that you are able to complete or attend your assessment by the original date and time. If this is the case, you can request to withdraw part or all of your extenuating circumstances (EC) application.
Self-certified applications can only be withdrawn before the start of the assessment or submission deadline.
For evidence based EC’s, these should be withdrawn as soon as possible and normally no later than the same day as the assessment deadline or event. If you do not withdraw your EC before this time, you must also provide reasons for why you could not have withdrawn your EC with evidence application before the assessment event/deadline.
The cancelled EC should be reflected on the system within an hour of being processed by the Assessments team. Depending on the assessment it relates to, it might be an automated process or one of our administrators may need to review it. Those that need reviewing can take a day or two in peak periods.
Guidance regarding how you can withdraw your EC application is available on our extenuating circumstances pages.
It is important to note that if your request to withdraw your application is approved, you will be expected to meet the original deadline.
