Can I submit a late academic misconduct appeal?

You have the right to appeal the outcome of an academic misconduct process provided you do so within 10 University working days of the date you were notified of the outcome.

If you are unable to provide all the supporting evidence by the appeal submission deadline (for example, if you are awaiting receipt of a medical letter), then you are still required to submit your appeal within the 10 University working day timeframe.

In this instance, you should submit a completed academic misconduct form alongside a supporting statement and any available evidence.

You may request an extension to submit any pending evidence at a later date by email to oscar@surrey.ac.uk at the time of the appeal submission. Such requests should explain the reason the extension is required and outline the timeframe for when you expect to submit the pending evidence.

If you have missed the deadline, you may provide a reason (with independent supporting evidence) as to why your appeal is late. Please provide a statement outlining why your appeal is late by email to oscar@surrey.ac.uk along, including any supporting evidence that you would like to be considered.

The evidence will then be reviewed by a Case Manager who will determine whether the reasons are valid and your appeal should be considered, despite being late.
