How can I find a peer mentor to help me with my studies?

The Peer Active Learning Scheme (PALS) pairs up foundation, first and second year undergraduate students, with a trained final year undergraduate or postgraduate PALS mentor to develop academic skills for studying and learning.

As a PALS mentee, you will have the opportunity to discuss and agree with your PALS mentor how best to use your mentoring sessions and what to focus on. For example, you may decide to develop strategies for:

  • writing academically

  • applying the referencing style you should be using to assignments

  • planning and managing your time to complete assignments

  • revising and sitting exams

  • enhancing your ability to think critically when researching, reading, making notes and writing

  • planning and delivering presentations

  • connecting with additional resources and/or support services at the University
