How do I make sure my flatmates do their washing up?

If you have flatmates that are not helping to keep the kitchen tidy and not doing their washing up, the best thing to do is to talk to your flatmates about this. You could emphasise the importance of keeping the sides and the sink clear for the cleaners to clean. Nobody will do the washing up for you, and sometimes you can even be fined if the state of your kitchen gets too bad!

You could also try suggesting that together you create a cleaning rota and take it in turns to ensure the washing up gets done.

You could also suggest a flat meeting - they are a great way to get everyone on the same page and agree on how you would like to live together. Not holding meetings can lead to miscommunication and tension amongst flatmates.
