How does the University use the data from MySurrey Attendance?

MySurrey Attendance (MSA) is a great tool to help you have a discussion with your personal tutor, student success coach or your programme leader about your learning engagement, including attendance. The focus is on using the information to empower you to make the most of your time at Surrey, enhance our student support services and allow them to engage more proactively and at an early stage.

The data may also be used to supply attendance records to regulatory bodies for example, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and for UKVI/Visa Compliance.  We understand that occasionally there may be technical issues with attendance being logged on MSA. However, as we consider the overall engagement profile for each student, isolated cases of attendance being missed would not normally result in compliance action being taken, provided your overall engagement profile is strong.

If you believe your attendance is not being accurately captured by the MSA app, we advise letting your Personal Tutor or Student Success Coach know. They work with our central support teams and can liase with them on your behalf and provide further help or support if needed.

All data use is in line with the University's student privacy notice, and you can also see more about data safety specifics via the respective app stores for your device (iOS App Store and Google Play Store).
