I am a foundation year student who has failed a resit in the Late Summer Assessment Period. When can I resit this?

If you are a foundation year student, you are not permitted to carry over any failed modules into the next year of your programme.

If, after the Late Summer Assessment Period (LSA), you still have outstanding attempts remaining for any of your modules (either as a result of extenuating circumstances (EC's) or eligibility for a third attempt), you will not be able to progress to the next stage of your programme and will be course suspended. You will need to pass these outstanding units of assessment during the next academic year, with or without attendance at those classes (subject to the limits laid out in the A0: Regulations for the foundation year). You will be contacted following LSA mark release to confirm which mode of attendance you wish to take in order to resit these. Please note some modules may not be retaken without attendance e.g. labs/practicals/workshops. All the above is subject to the limits laid out in the A0: Regulations for the foundation year. Whichever option you choose, you must re-register.

If you have double-failed any module and have no further outstanding attempts available, you will be course terminated.

Students in this situation should contact the MySurrey Hive for specific advice about their situation by raising an enquiry via Surrey Support and selecting “My Course” as the enquiry topic.
