I am having suicidal thoughts, where can I get help?

If you are having suicidal thoughts, you might be struggling to cope, and you may find these thoughts and feelings overwhelming. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand why you are feeling this way and to know how to manage these feelings. These feelings may build up over time or they may be changeable from moment to moment.

You are not alone and if you need urgent support, please reach out to immediate support services for crisis support available to you.

Call 999: If you require immediate emergency assistance, call 999 for the emergency services, which are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Campus Safety: If you need immediate support and you live on campus, contact the Campus Safety team on 01483 683333. The team can support you in a lot of ways. They listen to any personal safety concerns that you may have. They also work closely with the Centre for Wellbeing, emergency services and/or external support teams to ensure you can receive support as and when you need it – even in the middle of the night. These may be concerns and questions about mental health and wellbeing concerns.

Mental Health Crisis Helpline: Call 0800 915 4644 to access 24-hour support for people in Surrey and North East Hampshire experiencing a mental health crisis, particularly those already under the care of an NHS community team.

Safe Haven: The Safe Haven service in Guildford is open to anyone experiencing a mental health crisis and is open 6pm – 11pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Safe Haven is located on Walnut Tree Close, just a few minutes' walk from the Stag Hill campus and Guildford town centre. Safe Haven also offers virtual crisis support, between 6pm to 11pm daily.
