I am in my final year at university, when will my exemption from council tax end?

If you are a student in your final year, your council tax exemption will end once you have reached the official end date of the course you are studying. This is not your graduation date, but the official end date of your course, which is likely to be much earlier.

If you are unsure of the exact end date of your course, you can find this by generating a “Confirmation of Registration” letter from our “University Letters” page. This letter will contain your expected end date.

If you are due to enrol on another course after your current one has officially ended, you will be eligible to pay council tax for the period over the summer (until your new course officially begins).
