If I want to extend my study or work abroad trip to take a holiday or further overseas travel, can this be included within my University TravelCert policy?

If you are planning to do some further travelling or take a holiday after your study or work abroad assignment has ended, then your TravelCert policy can be extended to accommodate this.

As part of your registration for the University’s TravelCert insurance, you will be asked to confirm the start date and end date of your trip. You should make sure that;

  1. the end date includes the additional period of holiday/travel; and

  2. within the duration you advise the number of day(s) allocated as holiday (insurers have the right to amend terms where the holiday is not incidental to the trip)

Furthermore;

  1. if this holiday or travel includes countries outside of the country where you completed your study or work abroad assignment, please ensure you have included these in the list of destinations for your trip

  2. where this holiday or travel includes countries that are not en route to or from the UK, then the insurance cover is subject to the leisure trip not exceeding (unless agreed by the insurers in advance):

    1. 3 hours total flight time (including any stopovers); or

    2. 14 days duration.

Terms may include health and age exclusions.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DESTINATION

Prior to your departure on your overseas travel YOU must check that YOUR destination has not been moved onto a sanction list.

Where you are in possession of an approved coverage letter and your destination moves onto a sanction list prior to departure, you must contact the Insurance office for confirmation of whether your cover remains valid. You can check the latest status of your destination on the AIG Travel Assistance website or app.
