My final classification grade was within two per cent of a grade boundary, why was it not rounded up?

If you a final year graduating undergraduate student on an Honours or Integrated Masters degree programme, and your final award classification result is within 2% of a degree classification boundary, you may be considered for a classification uplift. In these cases, we review your academic performance at your final level of study and consider eligibility for this. If eligible, you would then be awarded the higher final classification. Please read the A1: Regulations for Taught Programmes for full details on how and when this is applied.

If eligible, we will apply the uplift automatically and your Surrey Self Service, certificate and transcript will show the classification awarded based upon the uplift.

If you have not received the classification uplift this is because:-

• You are not graduating with full honours from an undergraduate Bachelor or Integrated Masters programme; this also does not apply to undergraduate intermediate exit awards or to any postgraduate taught award.

• You are a student on a Medicine or Veterinary Medicine course (these programmes are not eligible).

• You do not meet the criteria;  either your overall final classification mark was not within 2% of the next grade boundary, or your overall final classification mark was within 2% of the grade boundary but the weighted average mark for your final level/year of study was not in the higher classification boundary.
