My kitchen is always busy, how can I use it when I need to?

If you are living in campus accommodation with shared kitchen facilities you may experience problems accessing this if your flatmates have visitors. Residents are allowed to have guests over before 11pm, and when living in halls of residence it is fairly common for residents to socialise with their friends in the kitchens or perhaps invite people over to cook. However, you may find that this is intrusive or that it happens too frequently, preventing you from using the kitchen yourself. In this case, you could discuss the issue with the person who is disturbing you and let them know how it is affecting your use of the kitchen.

You can also ask your Residential Advisor to host a mediation session between the people involved (or even the whole flat if necessary) and help you find a solution. For example, maybe the flatmate could invite their friends over to cook just once a week, and leave a note to explain to the rest of the flat that they are doing so.

You can contact the Residential Advisors team when they visit your flat each week. They will also be available to chat to all students at community building events and promotional stands throughout the year, so you are welcome to say hello and ask them questions.
