Where should I submit my clinical placement travel expenses form?

During your time on placement you may be eligible to claim some travel expenses for travel to and from your place of work. Eligibility and how to claim will depend on the type of placement you are undertaking.

Veterinary medicine

Final year veterinary medicine students should refer to the guidance on claiming intramural rotations (IMR) placement expenses on the SurreyLearn pages and in the IMR handbook. Expenses are submitted via an online form to the Vet Placements team.

Health sciences

If you've attended a placement as part of your course, you may be able to claim back excess costs for travel relating to your placement, compared to your usual journey to university and for accommodation you paid for to attend your placement. This is in accordance with the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA)'s Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses policy.  Students should refer to the relevant information on their Surrey Learn pages and there is also further information available on the NHSBSA guidance pages.

Please submit your claim to the to University's TDAE claims support team. They will then submit the claim on your behalf.

PsychD clinical psychology

You can find guidance on travel and subsistence related expenses on SurreyLearn. You should send your expenses claim to the Programme Administrator at the University and they will forward your claim to the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust (SABP) by the payroll deadline of the 5th of each month. Any claims submitted to the Programme Administrator which have missed the deadline will be paid in the following month’s payslip. Trainees should submit their claims by the last working day of each month so there is time to process them and get them sent off by the 5th of the following month.
