Why is Flywire adding a three per cent convenience charge to my university fee payment?

If you are paying for your accommodation or tuition fees using Flywire, and you select the UK as your payment country but then use an internationally issued card for payment, or a card that is internationally issued and preloaded with GBP, you will be charged an additional 3% fee. This is an international card processing fee levied when the payment country does not match the country where the card was issued. You can avoid this by changing the payment country to match the country where your card was issued.

If you see this 3% fee warning appear and you would like to avoid the fee but still use the same card, you should click 'Change payment method or payment country' and change the payment country to match the country where your card was issued.

If you are using a commercial credit card, you will also incur the 3% convenience charge. To avoid this, you will need use a non-commercial credit card.
