How do I apply for the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) and what support can I get from the DSA?
The Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) are a non-means tested grant for students studying in higher education who have a disability as defined by the Equality Act (2010).
There is a huge amount of support that can be funded, which can include:
- Specialist equipment including assistive technology and specialist software
- Non-medical helpers including 1:1 mentoring and study skills support
- Extra travel because of your disability
- Other costs of studying as a result of your disability such as a printing allowance.
As part of the application process you will attend a needs assessment, where an assessor will discuss in detail the support the DSAs can fund and put together a tailored package of support to meet your needs.
