I am worried about my attendance rating on MySurrey Attendance?
We understand and appreciate why many students are worried about MySurrey Attendance, but we want to reassure you that attendance monitoring is an important wellbeing tool and its purpose is to support our student population. Where a student’s attendance dips, either suddenly or over time, there is often a reason related to this. There is a vast amount of support available through the University including via the Centre for Wellbeing, Disability and Neuroinclusion, your Academic Department and Personal Tutor, the Chaplaincy, and the Student Success team. Monitoring your attendance allows the University to intervene early to offer further support to help you engage and succeed.
We recognise that any student’s attendance could be affected throughout their course, but in particular, disabled students, pregnant students, or those with caring or parental responsibilities are likely to face barriers to attendance. If you are concerned about attendance monitoring, or if you would like to discuss the support available to you, we would recommend contacting your Personal Tutor or Student Success Coach in the first instance. If you are a disabled student, we can put you in touch with one of our Disability and Neuroinclusion practitioners to review your reasonable adjustments and discuss what other support could be of benefit.
If you are unable to access Surrey Support, please contact us via our enquiry form.
