I have mould around the windows and shower

There are steps you can take to avoid the build-up of mould and condensation in your room.

You should clear your windows of condensation regularly, so it doesn't develop into mould. You can do this easily with a towel or cloth. You should also avoid drying clothes in your rooms and ensure your room is ventilated by having your windows slightly open. Bedroom windows can be particularly susceptible to condensation because moisture from your breath and your body heat can accumulate in the room. Opening the window will allow the warm, damp air to escape.

If you have ensuite accommodation and experience condensation after showering, you should open a window to let out steam. Even keeping a window open for 10-15 minutes helps exchange moist air for drier air. Water left sitting on tiles, mirrors, walls and windows leads to condensation and dampness over time.

If you are concerned about mould in your accommodation, please report this via the Estates and Facilities Helpdesk system. You need to make sure that you are connected to the University Wi-Fi and that you are using Microsoft Edge instead of Google Chrome (if you do not do this, the website link will not work).
