What support will I get if I study or work abroad?

The University of Surrey offers support and advice for students before, during and after going abroad.

Pre-departure we offer:

• Practical and logistical support and pre-departure guidance online
• Pre-departure briefings
• Drop-in sessions and bookable meetings with the International Engagement Office
• Language preparation – uTalk
• Peer support
• Academic Support from Academic Exchange
• Coordinator for study exchanges

While abroad we offer:

• Dedicated departmental contact - an Academic Exchange Coordinator will support students on study exchanges; and students on a work placement as part of the Professional Training Year will receive support from the Placements Team and Director of Employability
• Access to Surrey services
• Community of Surrey students abroad

On return we offer:

• Employability and International Experience workshop – unpack the skills you’ve learnt
• Buddy Scheme – make international connections with new incoming exchange students
