What is a third attempt?

If you have completed two attempts to pass a module but have not passed, you may be eligible to complete one 15 credit or one 30 credit module as a third attempt in order to achieve your full award. A third attempt at your failed module will only be offered if all other modules have been passed.

If you are an undergraduate student and have a third attempt at a 15 credit module, you would be able to carry this over to your next level/year of study as a trailed module.

If you are an undergraduate student and have a third attempt at a 30 credit module, this cannot be carried over to your next year/level of study as a trailed module and you would be unable to progress to the next level of your studies and would be course suspended. You would complete the third attempt during the next academic year (and during the semester that the module was taught) with or without attendance at the teaching for that module. There will be fee implications if you choose to resit with attendance.

If you are a postgraduate student and have been offered a third attempt at a 15 credit module, you would complete this during the next university appointed assessment period or during the following academic year (and during the semester that the module was taught). You can sit this with or without attendance at the teaching for that module. There will be fee implications if you choose to resit with attendance.
