I have completed my course but not yet received my final marks, can the university provide a completion of studies letter?

The university does not provide a completion of studies letter. We cannot confirm that you have completed your studies until your final grades have been confirmed and you have passed all of your modules. Once you have successfully completed your course and received your final grades, you will be able to access your final HEAR transcript certificate via Gradintel which will confirm that you have been awarded and the degree that you have obtained.

In the meantime, if you need to provide proof of your working rights to an employer, you may use the “Student Information for Employment Purposes” or “Information for Employers” letters available on Surrey Support University Letters and Exam Slip · Customer Self-Service.

The MySurrey Hive team are able to provide two other letters (below) for students who are applying to further study or who need confirmation of their expected degree award date.

  • The “Highly Likely to Complete” letter - only available for students who are applying for further study and need to demonstrate they have completed their course (before they have received their official award). Please note: this letter can only be issued when you have evidence that a third party has formally requested this information and you should upload this evidence to your request.

  • The “Expected Award Date” letter - this will confirm your anticipated award date (provided you successfully complete your course).

You can request either of these by submitting a request via Surrey Support and selecting “My Course” as your enquiry topic.
